OCEAN EYES
“I’d like one lemon Virgin mojito please” , a melodious voice said from beside him. “Thanks”.
The voice was simply breath-taking. By the time he got himself, the person had already left and he only got a glimpse of her red bikini. Disappointed he ordered another glass. He brought out his phone and proceeded to jump from one social media to another. He was trying to pass time before he went home. Time went by quickly and having achieved his aim, it was time to head home. He took one last leisure walk along the beach and that’s when he saw her again. He could recognize that red bikini anywhere. It had a unique design. He stopped mesmerized as she walked out from the water after her swim, the sun making the water beads on her body glimmer and shine. She was beautiful with a figure eight body and the perfect blue eyes. Wait blue eyes. He swiped a hand over his eyes to be sure he wasn’t seeing things. Yeah, they were still there, blue eyes. Once she got to the beach, she packed her stuff and left. Regaining his senses, he followed the path she had taken but didn’t find her. Sad once again, he made his way to where his car was parked and went home.
It had been a week since he saw ocean eyes and he couldn’t get her off his mind. He called her ocean eyes because of her blue eyes and also because he didn’t know her name. He was chilling out with his friend and his constant sighing was getting on Ehiz's nerves.
“Bayo, you have just been sighing since. If you didn’t want to come here , you would have just said so”
“Sorry. Been thinking about something for a while”
“About what” Ehiz was definitely interested in knowing what was keeping him so occupied.
“There is the girl I met last week at the beach. My eyes ocean eyes”, he replied with a dreamy look on his face.
“So it’s because of a girl I have been talking to myself all day but wait oo, which one be ocean eyes now. “
“That’s the color of her eyes. Beautiful blue eyes” he still had the smile on his face.
“Blue eyes in Nigeria. You sure say na naija babe? Describe am first.
“Someone that looks like a Yoruba babe. She’s the definition of melanin beauty. Omo guy if you see shape ee, na better hourglass”
“Ah, the babe make sense oo. Where did you guys meet?
“I saw her walking out of the water after her swim to the beach.”
“Are you sure it’s not amansa you saw” Ehiz joked.
“Which one be amansa again”
“She’s the river goddess in my place. Abi you said she was coming out from water and she get fine face with better shape. And her eye na blue. Na amansa be that na”
“Guy if it’s a joke stop it oo”.
“Oya sorry. What’s her name?”
“ Guyyyyy. Didn’t even get to talk to her. I followed her but I didn’t find her”
“Ah. She disappeared. I talk am. O boy na mami water you see oo.” At this point, they burst out laughing.
Bayo went back home after joking about ocean eyes with his friend. He played along wit him but deep down he knew she was real. He got ready for bed and later that night, he dreamt he met ocean eyes again.
